I Will Not Let You Go Unless You Bless Me

Topic: We Must Fight For Our Blessing Until Re Receive It!

And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

Genesis 32:26 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Numbers 1-2

Bible Versions:

Genesis 32:26 (NIV) — 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Genesis 32:26 (MSG) — 26 The man said, “Let me go; it’s daybreak.” Jacob said, “I’m not letting you go ’til you bless me.”

Genesis 32:26 (NLT) — 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Thoughts of Devotion:

This morning, how determined are you to obtain the blessing of God in 2016? To receive all that God has prepared for our lives it will take determination, courage, and perseverance. This is the example we see in the life of Jacob, he did not stop fighting for his blessing! He would not let go of the angel until he was blessed! In Hosea 12:4 it tells us, “Yes, he struggled with the Angel and prevailed; He wept, and sought favor from Him. He found Him in Bethel, And there He spoke to us.” For his perseverance, Jacob received the blessing of God upon his life.

I think sometimes this is what is lacking in many believers, determination to get the blessing of God, despite the circumstances we are facing! Sometimes we give up easy, any opposition and we lose heart. We stop fighting, not knowing that the blessing is right around the corner. We do not have the perseverance to continue fighting for God’s blessing to receive it! It is for this reason that we cannot allow ourselves to be moved of our firm stand in his promises, as stated in 2 Thessalonians 2: 2, “not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.”

Today you need to determine yourself to keep fighting for your blessing, do not let anything distract you or move you. If God has given you a promise of blessing to your live, then you cannot abandon the plan of God so easy! In 1 Corinthians 15:58 it tells us, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” If we are determined to live in 2016 under the blessing of God, his blessing will surely come into our lives! It is to those who persevere in obedience, and submit to God’s plan, that at the end of the day are blessed abundantly.

Foundational Scriptures:

Hosea 12:4 (NKJV) — Yes, he struggled with the Angel and prevailed; He wept, and sought favor from Him. He found Him in Bethel, And there He spoke to us—

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV) — 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

Psalm 67:1 (NKJV) — 67 God be merciful to us and bless us, And cause His face to shine upon us, Selah

Psalm 115:12 (NKJV) — 12 The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) — 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 2:2 (NKJV) — not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.

  1. Timely message. I heard from a very close spritual friend one time -“sometimes God tests us over and over until we pass the test” and in this story I see the principle of “It won’t be an easy fight”,Jacob fought till dawn, that means he stood up all night while everybody rested, that means we as believers have to put in work to see what God has for us. This morning I receive it and believe God for more and in abundance. May you be blessed.
