Have You not Made A Hedge Around Him?

Topic: It Is God’s Protection That Keeps Our Blessing

10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

Job 1:10 (NKJV)

12 For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Psalm 5:12 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Leviticus 26-27

Bible Versions:

Job 1:10 (NLT) 10 You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is!

Job 1:10 (MSG) — 10 You pamper him like a pet, make sure nothing bad ever happens to him or his family or his possessions, bless everything he does—he can’t lose!

Job 1:10 (NIV) — 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

Thoughts of Devotion:

We read in this portion of Scripture how Job lived under the care and protection of God over his life. He was a man greatly blessed by God, everything he did for God woud prosper! In Job 1:3 it tells us, “Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East. Job being an honest and true man, the Lord took care of him and his family all the time. Job, being a God-fearing man, every morning the first thing he did was offer to God an offering of burnt sacrifice and worship to Him.

We see that it was only God’s protection that kept Job blessed. You cant credit the blessings that he enjoyed to anything else! Reading more on his life, we learn that at the moment God’s protection was removed, at that instant trials came to test Job’s life. But while the protective wall was there, there was nothing that the enemy could do destroy Job’s life. What a great protection we have in God, nothing happens because he cares for us! It is certainly as Psalm 34:7 tells us, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.”

We are the apple of his eye as stated in Zechariah 2:8, “For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.” When we have His blessing, no one can touch us or do any harm! There is a hedge of protection that is surrounding our lives. It is for this reason that in 2016 it is important that God is the one who protects and cares of our lives. Only then will we see the best that is to come!

  1. My prayer goal is not to have GOD answer according to my Desires… But for my heart to be set to receive based on his desires… 🙏

  2. God will always care for are lives. We live under the protection of God. God will always protect us. If it was not for God we will not be blessed. Nothing the enemy throws at us can effect us because God is protecting us. As long as God protects us nothing will harm us.
