Haggai 2:19 (NLT) — 19 I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn. You have not yet harvested your grain, and your grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced their crops. But from this day onward I will bless you.”
Thoughts of Devotion:
God’s plan for the year 2016 is that we live under open skies. His desire is to pour blessings upon our lives to abound. But it is possible that we are not experiencing this in our lives. Perhaps we are not living today under his overflowing blessing, and seeing this, the enemy would want to discourage that we are not faithful to God. But remember what Habakkuk 3: 17-18 says, ” Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
Today we can be sure that although we do not see his full blessing today, it is on the way! The Lord promised us that the best is yet to come in 2016. His word tells us here in Haggai, that although there is no seed in the barn, no current harvest, figs or olives, God declares to us, “from now on, I will bless them!” We cannot lose our trust in God, we cannot stop being faithful, God, at His time, will bless us with what we anticipate for our lives, families and ministries. We just have to continue to honor God with all our goods.
God’s promise in Proverbs 3: 9-10 is clear, “Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. “This morning only honor God with the resources He put in your hands and see with your own eyes the provision and blessing from Him in 2016. God never fails, He is always faithful! Although today we might not see the entire fulfillment of his promise, wait in Him, remain faithful, continue to sow and soon God will honor your faith. Believe although you cannot see it right now, your blessing is on its way!
Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NKJV) — 17 Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— 18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Deuteronomy 15:10 (NKJV) — 10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.
