Thoughts of Devotion:
When we tend to the Lord’s business, we are assured that God will always take care of our business. All we must do is make sure that we are diligently attending the affairs of our Heavenly Father. This was what Jesus modeled all his earthly ministry. We note in this occasion that Joseph and Mary were seeking Jesus, but he was not lost, he just stood in the temple doing the will of God. Jesus came with one purpose, from childhood up to the cross, and it was to fulfill His mission and be obedient unto death!
We can see that the word business, comes from the Latin, “which is not leisure” or be busy, doing productive things, something to gain, everything opposite of being idle or lazy. This is exactly what we should be doing if we really want to see God’s best! We have to be busy doing the work God has entrusted us this year 2016. In Romans 12:11 tells us, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” In the Lord’s work, there is never any unemployment. There is always a need for men and women that are willing to earnestly serve the Lord passionately.
This morning I ask you, what are you doing for the work of the Lord? Are you serving through your time, talents, skills, or financial resources so that the Lord’s work will flourish in 2016. The time is now to stand up and work for the Lord. God challenges you this day to come and get involved in His business. In Galatians 6: 9, it says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Remember that if anyone knows how to pay and reward our labor, it is God. His promise to us is that we shall reap of our dedication to his work in 2016.
