Called Us With A Holy Calling

Topic: Holiness Is Only Through His Grace

who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

2 Timothy 1:9 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Exodus 11-13

Bible Versions:

2 Timothy 1:9 (NIV) ― He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

2 Timothy 1:9 (NLT) ― For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:9 (NLV) ― He is the One Who saved us from the punishment of sin. He is the One Who chose us to do His work. It is not because of anything we have done. But it was His plan from the beginning that He would give us His loving-favor through Christ Jesus.

Thoughts of Devotion:

The moment God saved us was with a purpose. He did not save us to keep us living in the same way, under the dominion of sin. Even the meaning of sanctification is to separate the object away from its regular use for a particular purpose or use, it is separated and is for the exclusive use of the Lord. In the Lord’s plans for our lives, it is that we manage to live a holy life and consecrated to Him. Our lives will no longer be the same, God made a radical and real change in us.

This process of sanctification can only be carried out by the grace of God. He granted us the path of holiness and consecration, its immense and amazing grace! It is by grace that we live apart from evil and away from the chains of sin that bound us before. Today more than ever we need the grace of God to accomplish a holy walk with God. Through grace we are people who enjoy the change and transformation of God within our hearts. His grace through our Lord Jesus Christ is the means to achieve to walk separate from the world and living for God.

Pray today that His grace enables us to live lives that please God. It’s only in the path of his grace that we keep walking in holiness. A road that is not easy, but with God’s help we can live consecrated before God. Like the Apostle Paul declared in Ephesians 4: 1. “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.” This morning we must live our lives worthy of the calling and vocation given by God. A call to holiness, through his grace!

Foundational Scriptures:

Hebrews 12:10 (NKJV) ― 1For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.

Hebrews 3:1 (NKJV) ― Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,

Romans 11:29 (NKJV) ― 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Acts 15:11 (NKJV) ― 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ[a] we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”

  1. My prayer this morning is that his grace would be there with me everyday and everywhere I go guiding me and leading me to my holy calling !

  2. This morning I pray for the GANG, that we would walk worthy of God’s calling & we would live lives that are not conformed to this world but consecrated unto God.
