Sanctified By The Holy Spirit

Topic: Holiness Is A Work Of The Holy Spirit

That I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:16 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Exodus 8-10

Bible Versions:

Romanos 15:16 (NLT) — I am a special messenger from Christ Jesus to you Gentiles. I bring you the Good News so that I might present you as an acceptable offering to God, made holy by the Holy Spirit.

Romanos 15:16 (MSG) —This priestly and gospel work of serving the spiritual needs of the non-Jewish outsiders so they can be presented as an acceptable offering to God, made whole and holy by God’s Holy Spirit.

Romanos 15:16 (NIV) — to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Devotional Thought:

In considering the work of sanctification in our lives, its important to understand the role of the Holy Spirit. His work in us is so important if we really want to live our lives consecrated and separated unto God. His work is unique in that he has the ability to transform the depths of our being. In Romans 8:26 tells us, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Today we have the help of the Holy Spirit available to us. What better help can we receive than the help of the Holy Spirit! Only it can bring a radical and complete change in us. Today we are blessed to have him dwelling within our being, as 1 Corinthians 6:19 declares, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and it is he that is dwelling in our hearts and produces the work of sanctification.

Our prayer on this day should be that we yield our lives completely to God. If you really want to walk in holiness, its of great importance that we completely surrender to his will. It is when we give ourselves to Him that we can experience all that God has for our lives. He wants to do something new within our hearts! There’s no reason to resist his will and his work in us. Today is the day to give ourselves completely to the Holy Spirit and pray that He shape us more into the image of Christ.
