Topic: We Must Be Tested To See The Best Days

16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end—

Deuteronomy 8:16 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Genesis 48-50

Bible Versions:

Deuteronomy 8:16 (NIV) — 16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

Deuteronomy 8:16 (MSG) — 16 the God who gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never heard of, in order to give you a taste of the hard life, to test you so that you would be prepared to live well in the days ahead of you.

Deuteronomy 8:16 (NLT) — 16 He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good.

Thoughts of Devotion:

If there is something we must understand today, it’s that God directs us in our spiritual journey. Just as the people of Israel, God goes before us heading toward our future! Only God knows our purpose, our destiny of blessing and prosperity. We must never doubt the way God has paved before us, even when it gets tough. For the people of Israel, it was a testing process that lasted forty years. In Deuteronomy 8: 2 it says, “And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. “

Part of our journey towards the promise land will be times of trial and several difficult experiences. The interesting thing is that The Lord has warned us about this! I think nobody likes this truth, but the ultimate purpose of the test is not to harm us, but that it will manifest what is really in our hearts. In 1 Peter 1: 7, it tells us, “that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

As difficult as the test might be, at the end of the day we will do well! In 2 Corinthians 4:17, it tells us, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” We will not be destroyed in the time of trial, on the contrary, if we endure and learn the lesson God wants to teach us, we will be blessed! Recall that at the end of the day all that we face will be for our good, as James 1:12 tells us, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

Today I encourage you to stay in the process, do not give up to the test that is before you. The best is yet to come! If you only go through the process of God for your life. Take heart, endure the trial that your blessing is coming. Do not let your present determine your future, in Hebrews 12:11, it reminds us that, “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Thank God for his grace and favor that we will get to see his promise fulfilled in our lives.
