Versions of the Bible:
Exodus 3:8 (NIV) – “So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.”
Exodus 3:8 (NLT) – “So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.”
It is a great blessing to be able to understand that God always wants the best for our lives. He always has a better future, better plans for us. In Isaiah 55:9, the Lord promises that “as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God always has better plans for each of our lives! The future always looks better when seen with the eyes of the Lord. Thank God that our best days are not in our past, but in our future—a future full of promise!
This was what God had prepared for the people of Israel. They had been set free in order to see the fulfillment of the promises God had made for their lives. Their release from the oppression of Egypt was with the purpose that they would enjoy a land of blessing. The book of Ezekiel in 20:6 declares to us this truth: “On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.” How glorious it is to read that God always gives us the best! They had to realize that Egypt was never going to provide what God would give them.
Today we have the privilege to enjoy and appreciate the promises of God for our lives. We are free to walk confidently in them! Remember it is only in walking in this freedom that God has given us, that we will see the glorious future He has for us. We believe in this day that no chains of the enemy will manage to steal our blessing. He has made us free in order to receive His promises! Let us determine ourselves to walk in this freedom and take possession of all that God has promised us. The fulfillment of the promises of God is not in our past, but in our future. Let us run to Him!
Numbers 14:7-8 (NKJV) – …[A]nd they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’”
Ezekiel 20:6 (NKJV) – “On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands.”
Deuteronomy 1:25 (NKJV) – They also took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought back word to us, saying, “It is a good land which the Lord our God is giving us.”
Numbers 13:27 (NKJV) – Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.”
Genesis 15:18 (NKJV) – On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates”—
