Blessed Is The Man Who Trusts The Lord

Topic: The Danger Of Placing Our Dependance On Other Things

Thus says the Lord : “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:5 (NKJV)

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:7 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Genesis 24-25

Bible Versions:

Jeremiah 17:5–7 (NLT) — This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.

 Devotional Thought:

What a contrasted there can be between two people! There are those who trust in God and those who rely on the help of man. For those who choose to trust man, the Bible declares the, to be, “cursed”. What a strong word, what sad consequences there are for those who choose to trust in man. They become like, “the stunted bushes of the desert, with no hope for the future. They’ll Live in desolate places, on salty land” (v.6 NIV). I wonder why people make the mistake of trusting in man? When we have a God, who we can rely on and put our trust in.

The Bible us to be “blessed” when we decided to trust God. We are blessed to be able to rest in God. Knowing that he has everything under control. That in the midst of the situation we face, we have nothing to fear! We have no reason to run and ask for the help of man. Man can never do what only God can do. Man’s arm will always fall short compared to God’s help. As Psalm 33:16-17 tells us, “No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.”

Today we can decided to put 100% of our dependence on God. At the end of it all we will be able to experience the blessing of God to the maximum. By doing so we will take care not to allow our heart to depart after other things that will eventually be certain defeat. If we desire to have the blessings of God come into our lives, it is necessary to rely on the promises that God has made us. He will not fail us,  He will come soon to our aid in the midst of our crisis. The Lord will take us to a place of blessing and prosperity. We will be like that which Psalm 1:3 tells us, “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

Topical References:
