The Renewing Of Your Mind
Topic: The Transformation Begins In Our Mind
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
Romans 12:2 (MSG)- Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Romans 12:2 (NLT)- Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Thoughts Of Devotion:
The transformation according to the text we have been reading first starts in our mind! We must realize that our thinking has a direct impact on who we are, and how we behave. In Proverbs 23: 7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [man]…” What we need today is a renewal of our minds. A new way of thinking, a mind like Christ! As 1 Corinthians 2:16 tells us “For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”
The renewal of our mind is a very important process that must be continually happening in our lives. It is true that we will take time and effort, but the result will be that we will see a real change in our lives. For this to happen our mind should be filled with things that will build our spiritual life as is declared in Philippians 4: 8, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
We can not just spend our day occupying our minds with things that do not edify, such as doubts, fears or things belonging to the flesh. In Romans 8: 6 warns, “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Today we must determine not to waste time on thoughts that are going to bring us down spiritually, on the contrary we must be filled with the Word of God! God’s plan is that every day we are renewed and changed by the renewing of our mind. It is only in this way that we will experience a complete and total transformation in our lives.
II Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)- Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
Ephesians 4:23 (NKJV)- and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
I Peter 1:13 (NKJV)- Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Colossians 3:12 (NKJV)- Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
Romans 8:6 (NKJV)- For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
