Thoughts Of Devotion:
The desire of the Lord is to continually manifest His glory in the New Year 2016. He delights to shed his presence in our lives. But one may ask, how is it that the glory of God is described? Scripture teaches us that God’s glory is his divine presence manifested in a real and genuine way. It is when he decides to reveal himself in all its richness, splendor, honor and beauty. Nothing compares to the glory of God! Something powerful happens when God’s glory floods our life!
It is for this reason that Haggai challenged the people to believe God for greater glory. The prophet Haggai recognized that the primary purpose for the temple being rebuilt was for the glory of God to dwell in their midst. The promise of God was very clear, “The future glory of this house will be greater than its past glory” (NTV). The beauty of the temple would be that the real presence of God dwell in their midst. Without I, it would be just a building! The presence of God was what would be the difference.
Today this is the primary purpose for which we build, what we want is for God to dwell in our midst! Without His glory in our midst there will be no results, fruit, or success in what we do. As much as we try to make progress this year, at the end of day we will fail. It’s just his presence that brings provision and blessing to our lives. It is for this reason that we must begin this day to rebuild our lives, families and ministries. If we do the Lord will ensure that future glory upon us is greater than the first, our future will be more glorious than our past!
Psalm 85:9 (NKJV) – Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him That glory may dwell in our land.
Ezra 3:12 (NKJV) – 12 But many of the priests and Levites and heads of the fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this temple was laid before their eyes. Yet many shouted aloud for joy,
Haggai 2:3 (NKJV) – 3 ‘Who is left among you who saw this temple[a] in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, is this not in your eyes as nothing?
Ezekiel 43:5 (NKJV) – 5 The Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
