Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the Lord !
Isaiah 31:1 (NKJV)

Isaiah 31:1 (NLT) — What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.
There is a very sad reality that exists when we look to other things for our help in difficult times. The people of Israel chose to seek help from Pharaoh, instead of seeking and depending on God. They made the mistake of descending into Egypt to find their protection and security. In the next verse, Isaiah 30:2 tells us, “Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!”
Today we must make a firm decision, if we have not taken one yet, Will we seek God?, or will we run to the world? to find our help and safety. The consequences are serious and severe when we allow the world to be an obstacle in seeking God. In Isaiah 64:7 the Lord says He will hide His face, “And there is no one who calls on Your name, Who stirs himself up to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us, And have consumed us because of our iniquities”. How sad it is to run to the world for our help! When the Lord gives us his help and support if we only seek Him.
Let us pray this day that we may never let anything separate us from seeking God’s face. Surely there will be many distractions and obstacles! The enemy will do everything possible for us not to seek God’s help. But we have to decide to seek His face and presence more than anything else. May we achieve what Psalm 20:7 tells us, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses. Mas us the name of the Lord, our God” Glory to God! we trust in Him, seek His favor, aid, and assistance. For us there is no choice, only one option, seek Him more than anything else!

Isaiah 36:6 (NKJV) — Look! You are trusting in the staff of this broken reed, Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
Isaiah 64:7 (NKJV) — And there is no one who calls on Your name, Who stirs himself up to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us, And have consumed us because of our iniquities.
