Kind To The Unthankful And Evil

Topic: Let Us Be Thankful Without Expecting Others To Be

35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Luke 6:35 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Romans 1-3

Bible Versions:

Luke 6:35 (MSG) —35 “I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You’ll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst.

Luke 6:35 (NLT) — 35 “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

The Lord is kind and merciful even to those who are not grateful to Him. God is so patient and compassionate even when we do not deserve it! That is why we have to follow his example and model. It ministers to me what Matthew 5: 44-45 says, ” But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. “

As you read this you discover how much one must grow, to model the love and mercy of the Lord. Especially towards those who we have treated well, and in the end pay us back poorly. Those who perhaps you have provided for them, or offered help and then they don’t even give thanks. Romans 12: 20-21 exhorts us, ” Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”

Today we must learn to be grateful to God and to those around us, without expecting anything from others. We can learn from the model of Jesus, who gave himself out of love for us. In 2 Corinthians 8: 9 it tells us, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” The challenge is to love, forgive and be merciful to all. As difficult as it is at the end of the day it is the best roas we can take. We must remember that everything we do for people, it will be God who rewards us! Amen.

Foundational Scriptures:

Matthew 5:44-45 (NKJV) — 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) — He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

2 Corinthians 8:9 (NKJV) — For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

Romans 12:20-21 (NKJV) — 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”

One response to “Thursday, November 26 Kind To The Unthankful And Evil

  1. We should all be thankful for what we’ve got. When you’re thankful you show it to others by saying a simple thank you. Not saying thank you is selfish and bad and being selfish is evil!
