For The Help Of Man Is Useless

Topic: Victory Is Achieved Exclusively Through God

Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

Psalms 60:11-12 (NKJV)

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.

Psalms 20:7-8 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

John 3-4

Bible Versions:

Psalms 20:7–8 (NLT) — Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm.

Psalms 60:11–12 (NIV) — Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies!

Devotional Thoughts:

The Bible reminds us this morning of the importance of being able to completely trust and rely on God. He is the only security we have to see spiritual victory in our lives, our God Mighty Warrior! We daily live facing a spiritual war that can not be won without the help of God. In our daily lives we will face situations where no one but God can give us the complete victory in our walk. We come to understand that no man or human aid can give us what we need. The Psalmist states it this way, “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, for there is no salvation in him” (Psalm 146:3).

Like David we will face giants that cannot be defeated through human effort, but only with the help of God. As David understood this he declared to the giant on 1 Samuel 17:45, “Then said David to the Philistine, You come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. “very clear that David had no sword, spear and Javelin could beat whom served God, the Lord of hosts!

Today, are you faced with a difficult or impossible situation? Is there not anyone who can help you? I remind you not to run to man for your help, but you need to run to God. He is the one that will help you obtain the victory over every difficult situation in your life. Remember that while the battle rages and intensifies, God does not abandon you, He fights for you. The battle we fight is God’s, not ours. He will be victorious in the middle of our battle. The strength of men fall short against a battle that only God can win. Today, seek God wholeheartedly and anticipate to see his glory in the midst of our battle.

Topical References:

1 Samuel 17:45 (NKJV) — David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Psalms 146:3 (NKJV) — 3 Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.

Proverbios 21:31 (NKJV) — The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.

2 Chronicles 32:8 (NKJV) — With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah.
