Devotional Thought:

Someone may wonder today, why was I created? What is the purpose of life? The answer in the light of the Word is that God created us to have daily fellowship and intimate communion with Him. Since the garden of Eden, when God created Adam and Eve, their purpose was to live with Him and enjoy His company. His voice and presence was common to them, Adam and Eve enjoyed it daily! The Bible teaches us that “when the breeze blew cool in the evening, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking in the garden” (NLT).

What a great privilege they enjoyed, a special and unique opportunity. Delighting in God’s presence, in a beautiful garden made specifically to live in communion with the Creator. They were the only creatures of all of God’s  creation who had the ability to have close, intimate fellowship with the great creator of the universe. We have that same privilege today! It brings to mind what Leviticus 26:12 says, “And I will walk among you, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people.” Thank God for this, the greatest blessing is to have this closeness with God, where He promises to walk among us!

Today we can enjoy this sweet communion with the Lord. It was with this purpose that we were created, our goal and purpose in this life is to know Him intimately. Go beyond the surface, and into the deep! Through prayer and the Word we can know Him more every day. we can come to have a special place to enjoy His presence and glory, a secret place. For Adam and Eve, it was a beautiful paradise, a garden of communion. For us, it’s having a special place, a place where we can draw close to Him. We must know that all we need is His presence, because where He is, is where paradise is for us!
