So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Daily Reading Plan
2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT) — 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) — 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7 (MSG) — 7 I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.
Thoughts of Devotion:
The Apostle Paul reminds us in this portion of scripture of the joy that we experience when we give to The Lord. I think there is no greater joy, when it comes to giving, then the one we experience when we practice the privilege of giving our finances for the work of The Lord. The joy of sowing in spiritual ground is priceless, giving with the recourses that The Lord has provided. In Deuteronomy 15:10 we are reminded that we shouldn’t be grieved when we give to The Lord, but to give with joy and generosity, “You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.”
I ask myself, what is our attitude when it comes to the time of tithes and offerings in the house of God? Do we truly have joy and cheer in giving to The Lord? It’s important to know that God loves the cheerful giving, those believers that give to God out of gratitude for his provision in their life. When we offer God the best offering with all our hearts. In Exodus 25:2, The Lord tells his people, “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.”
Therefore, knowing this truth, decide today to have an attitude of joy and happiness when you give offering to The Lord. Never see it as something you have to give forcefully, like an obligation, or with a bad attitude. God doesn’t deserve this from us! Let’s give God with a heart fu of joy and happiness. Knowing that he is our provider and deserves everything we give him and more. As Psalmist declares, “What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?” (Psalms 116:12) we are completely indebted with The Lord, if it wasn’t for Him, where would we be! The least we could do is give Him with a cheerful heart.
