I Am Persuaded That He Is Able

Topic: Trusting In God’s Power And Strength

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

2 Timothy 1:12 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Matthew 7-9

Bible Versions:

2 Timothy 1:12 (NLT) — That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.

2 Timothy 1:12 (MSG) — It’s also the cause of all this trouble I’m in. But I have no regrets. I couldn’t be more sure of my ground—the One I’ve trusted in can take care of what he’s trusted me to do right to the end.

Devotional Thought:

If there’s something we must understand today is that suffering and pain will eventually come into our lives. There’s no doubt that we will all experiance it in this life, surprisingly even when we are doing the perfect will of God. Everything in life will always come with some amount of suffering. We can not forget that, the christian life is not a rose garden, and remember that even roses have thorns! The Bible gives us example after example of those who suffered great consequences when following Jesus. The price many of them paid, was their own lives!

One of them was the Apostle Paul, during his life he suffered in prison and not because he was a criminal, but to the contrary, for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. But he was not ashamed of his chains, but he exhorted the young Timothy to do the same in 2 Timothy 1: 8, “Therefore do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.” Timothy had to understand that this was the price you had to pay to serve the Lord. It was not easy, but it was necessary to overcome these challenges to achieve and fulfill the call of God’s destiny in his life.

I wonder this morning, how is it that the Apostle Paul could endure these trials and great afflictions? The answer is summed up in a phrase, “In God I Trust.” Paul had a life well anchored in the Lord, there was nothing that could move him from his position. He firmly stated, For I know whom I have believed! In spite of all persecutions, afflictions, and suffering the Lord continually gave him strength and power to move forward. Today we can have this same confidence and assurance that God is in control! In the midst of what we face in life, never lose our trust in He who can do all things!
