Thoughts Of Devotion:
Today we must understand that to compete and win in the spiritual race it is required of us several important aspects. Not just say I will run, but it will take more than this. Running the race demands more of us if we are to succeed. And I concluded that if something is needed in this spiritual journey it is determination! There is no victory if there is no determination in us to win. The determination in Jesus Christ is what defines whether we will be victorious in battle. One should set the goal to win, and take steps to emerge triumphant in this marathon.
The Bible gives us several examples of men who had to be determined to achieve and see results. One of them being the Apostle Paul, when faced opposition and obstacles in his life and ministry, he possessed great determination to keep fighting, his motto was “And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.” (1 Corinthians 9:25). He would abstain and pay the price to get the victor’s crown. Paul holds a fixed and secure determination! Nothing could stop him, no spiritual conflict could stop him to continue to his destination.
Today we should have this determination. The spiritual race will take everything from us. Sometimes our encouragement and spiritual forces will want to diminish to the point of feeling the weight of the race upon us. We will feel like giving up, but the determination in the Lord willl push us forward. We will be determined to win and get the winning prize! Let us remember the following word when we feel the weight of the day, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” (Philippians 3:12). We still have another day of spiritual conflict, with the help of God in Christ Jesus, we will come out winners.
Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) — 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 10:25 (NKJV) — 25 Then Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.”
1 Corinthians 9:25 (NKJV) — 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
Philippians 3:12 (NKJV) — 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
1 Corinthians 9:26 (NKJV) — 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
2 Peter 1:10 (NKJV) — 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
