Thoughts Of Devotion:

The Apostle Paul always had in mind the danger of running the spiritual race in vain. His concern was to finish the race, the high calling and the divine purpose of God for his life. He meditated on the coming of the Lord, and all that his heart desired was to done day present himself before God as a faithful servant who finished his task here on earth. His later writings show us his desire to finish well. In 2 Timothy 4: 6-7 it says, “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

His concern was not only to finish the race, but that those in his care would do the same. In his ministry the Apostle Paul invested in an many number of people. His ministry impacted an entire generation, but at the end of the day realized that there was a danger that some will not finish the race with honors. 1 Thessalonians 3:5 tells us, “For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.”

What about us this morning? Will it be in vain what others have invested in our lives?? Or even ourselves, Imagen running this race for a long time, so at that at the end of the day, it’ll have been in vain! Remember that is not only starting the race well, but it is also how we finish it. It is sad to see so many believers that started well, but they ended sadly. Everything at the end of the day ends in vain, because they didn’t care for there lives in this spiritual race. Some have neglected discipline, obedience, and passion for God, losing everything for nothing of value! Let us pray that the Lord keep us from falling into this error. We can have the perseverance for the long haul, and finish our race in triumph and victory.

Foundational Scriptures:

Galatians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.

1 Thessalonians 3:5 (NKJV) — For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.

Isaiah 49:4 (NKJV) —Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the Lord, And my work with my God.’”

Galatians 5:7 (NKJV) — You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 (NKJV) — 19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? 20 For you are our glory and joy.

  1. This morning I thank God for his love and mercy, I also would like to thank God for those people that tooked the time to invest in my life, I would be an ungratefull woman if I was to let go everything that God has giving me and I know God has not finished with me and my family, more than ever I want more of Him in my life. Yes I do go thru so much but it can not compare to what God gives me HIS LOVE!
Thank you Pastor for your dedication and caring for us.

  2. Amen Pastor! This is a great way of motivating us to stay strong with the help of God of course, but not just for our own benefit but to also help Others in need of a push. Like Others not so long ago we needed help and we also had people backing us up. praying for us, motivating us, and pushing us so that we could start the race, but one day in the future also finish the race like the Apostle Paul did. Thank you for this Motivation!

  3. The spiritual race must not be ran in vain. But it should be ran in honor. Many people were not able to run this race so if you are in it be proud of it.
