You Ran Well

Topic: The Obstacles In The Christian Walk

You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

Galatians 5:7 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Hosea 1-4

Bible Versions:

Galatians 5:7 (NLT) — You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth?

Galatians 5:7 (MSG) — You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience?

Galatians 5:7 (NIV) — You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?

Thoughts Of Devotion:

The Bible teaches us that at the beginning of our spiritual race we all tend to begin well. We start with the great gift of salvation,  joy and peace seam to overwhelm us. We experience a new life where everything is new and there is a sense of anticipation! Our first steps in this race are full of advancements and progress. But then something happens in some believers at the moment they begin to lose momentum and impulse. Soon they are diverted from the path before them. In Galatians 3: 1 Paul exhorts saying, “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?”

We should be careful not to stray away or be disqualified from the race before us. The Lord’s plan is that all of us remain in his ways. It’s possible to run well and advance in the way that God has laid out for us. We cannot stumble in this race from the obstacles that come into our lives. In Matthew 13:21 it tells us, ” yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.” We are not short-term, we are here for the long run. We get to finish this race!

The key to persevere in this race is obedience, only the obedient are the ones that will reach there reward! Distractions will surely come into our lives in so many different shapes and forms. The enemy will try to distract us with his lies and trickery. But we must take captive every thought to the obedience of Christ, as it is declared in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” Let us Pray that today we get to run the race before us with strength and momentum. The prize is before us, do not be discouraged, do not lose focus, we can do anything through Christ who strengthens us!

  1. Amen, if we are going to run in this race we need to be in it for the long run!!! We can’t do that unless we obey every demand from Christ!!!

  2. Yeah all of us start our spiritual race good. But then later on you lose your momentum. You start getting held back. You start running into obstacles. We should all try to have a good ending of the race.
