Depart From Iniquity

Topic: A Departure From Sin, Is A Genuine Revival

Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

2 Timothy 2:19 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Jeremias 4:5–6:30

Bible Versions:

2 Timothy 2:19 (NLT) — But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil”.

2 Timothy 2:19 (MSG) — Meanwhile, God’s firm foundation is as firm as ever, these sentences engraved on the stones: God knows who belongs to him. spurn evil, all you who name God as God”.

Devotional Thought:

In any genuine revival we always see that there is very visible fruit, lives that are consecrated and separate for God! Lives that have been touched by the presence of God, so that their conduct and his walk are different. Their lives are marked by a dynamic, living faith, so that it is inevitable to see the change and transformation that is being carried out by the Holy Spirit. People that have been cleansed of any contamination of the world, as declared in 2 Corinthians 7:1, “So, beloved, since we have these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”.

In developing this topic, the apostle Paul makes sure to bring to mind that if someone knows our walk, it’s The Lord. No one can hide or disguise their true spiritual state. Remember that no one can hide from the eyes of the Lord, He knows His own! We are the apple of His eye. He knows everything about us, our struggles, trials, temptations, and everything that surrounds our lives. The Lord says in John 10:14, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of my own.”

On this day we must make a decision to live separate lives before God. But to see this, it will be necessary to make a firm and solid decision! A firm decision to leave the world and all its pleasures, fleeing from all iniquity. It reminds me of the Prophet Daniel, a young man in the midst of an unclean and corrupt society, he decide to not defile himself, “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank” (Daniel 1:8). Today, we will belong to the Lord, let us pray that the fruit of revival may be visible in us. I leave you with this scripture, “Depart from evil, and do good, seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14).

Topical References:

John 10:14 (NKJV) — I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

Psalms 34:14 (NKJV) — Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.

Isaiah 52:11 (NKJV) — Depart! Depart! Go out from there, Touch no unclean thing; Go out from the midst of her, Be clean, You who bear the vessels of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) — Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
