For which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:20 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
Ephesians 6:20 (NLT) — 20 I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.
Ephesians 6:20 (MSG) — 20 And don’t forget to pray for me. Pray that I’ll know what to say and have the courage to say it at the right time, telling the mystery to one and all, the Message that I, jailbird preacher that I am, am responsible for getting out.
Thoughts Of Devotion:
We must understand that whenever the gospel is preached, there will certainly be opposition. The enmy will always try to place obstacles so that people will not come to the knowledge of the gospel. In 1 Thessalonians 2: 2, the Apostle Paul reminds us how his message was continually obstructed, ” But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.” What a tremendous testimony!, that despite facing great obstacles, nothing could stop or frighten him. His approach was continually bringing the Gospel to everyone.
Even his tribulations and difficulties encouraged others to stand firm in the faith. In Philippians 1: 13-14 it tells us, ” so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.” For the Apostle Paul, not even the chains could stop him from proclaiming the Gospel. His zeal and passion for the proclamation of the gospel was unique. An example for us to follow today!
This should challenge all of us as believers, especially when we abandon the responsibility to witness for Christ because of fear, or what people might say. Even in times of rejection or ridicule that we face by standing firm in our faith as children of God. Now is the time to leave aside the fear and shame, we must preach with more passion and contend for our faith. As Jude 3 says ” Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” I Pray nothing will stop or hinder us from preaching the gospel with all of our strength, that we can declare Christ to all nations.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV) — 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
Ephesians 4:1 (NKJV) — 4 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
Acts 26:29 (NKJV) — 29 And Paul said, “I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”
Philippians 1:13-14 (NKJV) — 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
2 Timothy 2:9 (NKJV) — 9 for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.
Matthew 10:27-28 (NKJV) — 27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
