Now Is The Day Of Salvation!
Topic: The Urgency To Announce The Gospel
“For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
2 Corinthians 6:2( NIV)
Daily Reading Plan
2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV) – “For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
2 Corinthians 6:2 (NET) – “For he says, “ I heard you at the acceptable time, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation!
2 Corinthians 6:2 (NLT) – “For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
Thoughts Of Devotion
The Bible tells us of the urgency of preaching the gospel throughout the world. When you read the Scriptures for salvation the emphasis is always now, not to wait for tomorrow! The Lord tells us that He is with open arms to welcome the multitudes in need of salvation. His mercy and love is available to all humanity. His desire is that no one should perish, but that all should come to repentance as 2 Peter 3: 9 tells us, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Sometimes this urgency is absent in the lives of many Christians. There are many believers who have lost the passion needed to bring souls to the feet of the Lord. Often their lives are filled with so many distractions and occupations that they do not have the time to consider the sad condition of a lost and needy world of God’s love. Today there are thousands who are in the condition of the foolish man in Luke 12: 19-20, “And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
Today there is no time to lose, some people are at the foot of an eternity without Christ. For them there is only a limited opportunity to have accepted the Lord in their life time. There is no time to waste! If you do not take seriously this urgency thousands will be lost because of our lack of diligence and passion. The Lord gives us a warning in Ezekiel 3:18, “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
The responsibility is ours, it is personal and urgent. There is no time to lose! Pray that God will put a burden on our hearts, an urgency to proclaim the Gospel everywhere and to everyone.
Isaiah 55:6(NKJV) – Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.
Psalms 69:13 (NKJV) - “But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of Your salvation.”
Hebrews 3:13 (NKJV) – but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Joshua 24:15(NKJV) – And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Isaiah 1:18(NKJV) – “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
