But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Ephesians 2:4–5 (NKJV)
Daily Bible Reading Plan
Ephesians 2:4–5 (NLT) — 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
Thoughts Of Devotion:
When we found ourselves without Christ in our hearts, our condition was very sad. Our life was sunk in the deepest obscurity of sin. We were far from all spiritual life, dead in our own sin and wickedness. We were enemies of God, separated and destitute of his life and blessing. It was in this state that God found each one of us, totally separate from Him and abandoned from all spiritual life! As Colossians 2:13 tells us, “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,”
Thank God for that special day, when God saved us and gave us new life in Him, only He was able to give us life in abundance! The Lord loved us so much and demonstrated his mercy in such a great way offering us his life. A life full of spiritual riches, of abundant life, and countless blessings. Today we are united with Christ, enjoying of spiritual life! Seated in celestial places with Him, as Ephesians 2:6 tells us, “and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
Let us remember that this spiritual life is only found in our unity with the Lord, without the Lord there is no life! It is when we are able to walk diligently in spiritual things that we will experience a genuine unity with God. Today the Lord desires that we may walk in an abundant spiritual life. If we have lost this spiritual life, he desires to shine his presence in our hearts. Ephesians 5:14 tells us, “Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Today is the day to arise and go to another spiritual level in the Lord. Let us allow his light to shine on us and anticipate the newness that He desires to work in us.
