This morning if one word would define the early church it would be “growth”. It’s very clear that in its beginnings the church experienced a rapid and accelerated growth. Scripture tells us that people were added daily. We even see thousands added in one day. There was an explosion of growth! Everywhere they turned, there were hundreds of people being saved at a time. The evangelism that the first believers practiced produced an abundant lasting fruit. There was continuous fruit from the preaching of the Word. Wherever it was preached there was multiplication and salvation, “Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly (Acts 6:7)
We see this as an example of the evangelism that God desires for our times. An evangelism with results! Within the work of evangelism our goal should be to see the local church grow numerically. Our responsibility is not only to do the work of evangelism but we should see lasting fruit. These days The Lord desires to see his church grow and break barriers of growth. This is the model we have from the Book of Acts, an example of multiplication and explosive growth. As we understand this model there should be no reason today for churches to plateau in their growth, or even worse, to reduce in numbers.
We should pray this morning that our evangelism may achieve the results just as we see in His Word. The Lord continues to be the same today and forever! He hasn’t changed. Jesus’ mission continues to be to see his church grow and advance. In these last days before his coming we should see the greatest harvest of souls as never before seen. These days The Lord desires to raise up men and women that will break growth barriers. Large churches that will be strong bases in our ministry, to then launch and plant new churches around the world. I believe this is possible if we do the work together!
