Daily Reading Plan
Psalms 27:8 (MSG) —When my heart whispered, “Seek God,” my whole being replied, “I’m seeking him!”
Psalms 27:8 (NLT) — My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalms 27:8 (NIV) — My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
When David wrote this Psalm it was very clear that he was facing a great battle. He was under great opposition, danger, and difficult times. In the previous verses, we read, “Although a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, I will be confident “(Psalm 27:3). I wonder, what do we do when we are in similar situations? Whom do we run to when our life is in danger? David knew only one thing, seek the presence of God! He ran to the secret place and found help right in time.
David’s heart responded to the divine call, the call to seek the face of the Lord. He had a passion to obey the commandments of the Lord, the instruction to seek God’s favor in every stage in his life. David recognized that only God had the power to save him from all the traps and tricks that the enemy could use. In Psalm 34:4 he declares, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” What a powerful truth! When we seek the Lord with our heart, we will always experience His peace and security.
We must never forget that when we are surrounded by the enemy, there’s only one way out! There is only one direction we must direct our hearts towards! Our heart should tell us, “My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.”(NIV). Today, what does your heart say? Pray that our hearts tell us only one thing, seek God! Seek God! Seek His presence! You have to determine yourself in the midst of spiritual warfare and the battle we face daily, we will seek the help and guidance of God. Never surrender, we must continue the task of seeking God more wholeheartedly, “Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually” (1 Chronicles 16:11).
Psalm 24:6 (NKJV) — Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.
1 Chronicles 16:11 (NKJV) — Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Psalm 34:4 (NKJV) — I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 119:58 (NKJV) — I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word.
