Thoughts of Devotion:
One of the enemies that rob us of spiritual passion is when we allow physical and spiritual laziness to dominate our lives. I believe that if we are honest, we have all been in a place where laziness has overcome us! Moments where we know what we should do, but we never accomplish it because commodity and neglect have placed themselves as a great barrier in advancing in our service to God. We fall into what Proverbs 13:4 says, “The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.” Desire is not enough; it will take more than that to serve the Lord!
There is only one solution in order to abandon laziness, and that is to have a fervent spirit! A passion for what we are doing. Passion goes beyond desiring to accomplish something; it will take effort, hard work, and tenacity. We all desire to see that our work for the Lord be effective, and produce much fruit. Just as John 15:8 declares, “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” No one desires to fail, or give the Lord a poor work in his vine! But, for this we will need to possess a fervent spirit.
Today we urgently need a fire in our hearts that fuels and burns in the inner most part of our being. A passion to see our labor, our ministry, our work for the Lord be done with excellence, giving honor to the one that deserves the best from us. We can’t be giving only the minimum of our service to God as a root of laziness and in diligence in our lives! God deserves the best of our lives, of our talents, of our being. Let’s pray that on this day the Lord would once again light that flame, that lamp in our hearts so that we may have a fervent spirit. That we would be able to serve him with fire that is not consumed!

Acts 17:16 (NKJV) — 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols.
1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV) — 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins”
Revelations 2:4 (NKJV) — 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
