Topic: When We Please God, Great Blessings Come To Us
26 For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
Ecclesiastes 2:26 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
Ecclesiastes 2:26 (NLT) — 26 God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.
Ecclesiastes 2:26 (MSG)— 26 God may give wisdom and knowledge and joy to his favorites, but sinners are assigned a life of hard labor, and end up turning their wages over to God’s favorites. Nothing but smoke—and spitting into the wind.
Thoughts Of Devotion:
God always knows how to reward those who are pleasing to Him. He takes special care of those who seek to be pleasing in his eyes. Nothing is hidden in the eyes of the One who looks at everything! The smallest detail of our lives, God sees it. He doesn’t just see, but also blesses those who live their lives pleasing to Him. It reminds me of what His Word says in 2 Chronicles 31:21, “And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.”
When someone seeks to please God, great blessings begin to come into their lives. Blessings we never expected begin to take place in our walk with the Lord. What we could never imagine comes to happen. The Lord begins to fill our lives with wisdom, intelligence, and joy. I wonder, who would not want to have these things in their life? We all want the blessings of God, His favor and grace upon us is something we all want! But they only come to us when we decide to live our lives honestly, not pleasing ourselves but pleasing one who deserves the best of our lives.
The blessings that God gives those that are pleasing to Him are of larger value than all the money in this world. His Word tells us, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold.” (Proverbs 3: 13-14). God’s blessings are always of more gain than silver and fine gold. He desires to give us beyond material prosperity; he wants us to experience a spiritual prosperity. For God it means nothing to give us material provision, he has much more for us.
There are things that money cannot buy, only God can give to those who please him! Decide today to please God; he will surely surprise you with His material and spiritual blessings. Others seek things of this world, but we seek to please God above all. This is everything in life!
