Hebrews 13:16 (NIV) ― 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Hebrews 13:16 (NLT) ― 16 And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.
Hebrews 13:16 (MSG) ― 16 Make sure you don’t take things for granted and go slack in working for the common good; share what you have with others. God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship—a different kind of “sacrifice”—that take place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets.
Thoughts Of Devotion:
Pleasing God will always lead us to a deep desire to help others. Our life will always be marked by the quality of helping those who are in need. We see this in the example of Jesus, he was one that was continually doing good. In Acts 10:38 it tells us, ” how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” This was Jesus’ ministry, to free and help those who were in deep need.
We must always have the desire to do good. As we have opportunity we should help those that are found in need. This is what really pleases God! There are so many needy people around us always in our walk with the Lord. Not only material needs, but most of all spiritual. People are looking for someone to help them find the answer to their problems and crises that come into their lives. They run to many places without finding hope and answer for their lives. It is at such times that we must do good and let them know the hope we have in Christ Jesus.
Even with our brothers in faith we must always seek to do good and help them in their Christian walk. In Galatians 6:10 it says, ” Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” We are a family in the Lord, we are not alone! We must unite and move forward in every situation or dilemma in which we find ourselves. We cannot do it alone, but together we will move forward. This is what pleases the Lord when we help each other and face the challenges that come to us. We are one body in Christ and together we will succeed. By doing so we please God’s heart!
