Haggai 1:5 (MSG) — And then a little later, GOD -of-the-Angel-Armies spoke out again: “Take a good, hard look at your life.
Haggai 1:5 (NLT) — This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!
Haggai 1:5 (NIV) — Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.
The Lord calls us to meditate well on our paths. To learn more about our true spiritual condition. To know how we are proceeding in our walk with Him. We must be honest and ask the Lord to teach us our true spiritual condition. We must not make the mistake of fooling ourselves into thinking that everything is fine, when in fact everything is wrong! We need to examine our hearts as Haggai 2:15 says, “Now therefore, meditate in your heart from this day forward, before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord.”
The Prophet Haggai on four occasions called on the people to reflect on the way they were living. They had abandoned the temple and were far from God. Instead of doing what God had asked of them, they were doing other things! The call of God was, build my house! but they were building their own homes. It was necessary for them to examine their own priorities, and return once more to give the best to God. The challenge was that they realign their wills with the plans and purposes of God. This would only take place if they sincerely examined their hearts.
On this day, God calls us to meditate on our paths. Seeing the condition of our heart, under the microscope of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to search us and show us our true spiritual condition. Remember what Jeremiah 17:9 tells us, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; Who can know it? “. It is true that our hearts can deceive us, we might think we’re good, when we are really really bad! Let’s be honest, Perhaps you abandoned the building the house of God, to do other things in your life? Your own plans and agendas. Today is the day to allow the Holy Spirit to bring conviction to our hearts and return once again to the task God has given you.
