And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV)
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
(Observation: The Bible In A Year Reading Plan is not in chronological order. Each day contains a portion from the Old Testament, New Testament, and Poetic Books.)
Bible Versions:
Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT) — Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
Colossians 3:17 (NIV) — And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) — So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Devotional Thoughts:
The Bible calls us to live a life of service and surrender to the work of The Lord. We all must be doing something for The Lord in the form of service and labor. There should not be a single believer that is unoccupied or not busy doing something for the work of The Lord. There is much to do and without a doubt there is no unemployment in the fields of The Lords vineyard. Everyone this morning must respond to the calling of Romans 12:11, “not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving The Lord”. The Lord calls all of us to serve him and complete the task he has commissioned us with.
My question is, how are we doing the task God has given us? Are we doing it with excellence and quality? One thing is to be working for The Lord, another thing is the level of quality were giving towards it. We must never forget for who we are doing our labor and ministry for, it’s for The Lord! It’s for no one else, but for Him. He deserves our best dedication and service. When one has this mentality and perspective, then one always puts effort into doing their best for The Lord.
Our prayer this morning should be, to do things with excellence for The Lord. We cannot let this opportunity pass us by, the opportunity to show our heart in our service to The Lord. Let us pray that this year 2013 we may all labor in our ministry with quality and excellence. Now is the time to put our heart and dedication into the work of The Lord. The Lord deserves our best. Never forget that our excellent service will bring glory and honor to God.
Foundational Scriptures:
2 Chronicles 31:21 (NKJV) — And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV) — Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) — Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Ephesians 6:5–7 (NKJV) — Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,

Gd Morning,
“….And whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly….unto the Lord…” (opening verse). I think at some point we have all been guilty of not serving God the way He deserves. There’s something you said Pastor and it really ministered to me, “we can all be serving, but what level of quality are we serving the Lord at? This morning I am reminded and challenged to serve the Lord wholeheartedly in all that I do, because He deserves nothing less. I pray you all have a blessed day : )
Ready to serve The Lord with all my heart I needed a reminder that I am serving the highest king and not the people and I need to give my all in every aspect of my life . This devotional really spoke to me we need to give our all no matter what were doing .
I really believe excellence is not achieved over night paul the apostal clearly nailed it when he said i press forward the mark … 2013 is the year of excallence the year to positioning at the feet of serventhood. 2Cronicles 31:21
I love serving God and my desire this year is to give him more of me, to give him the best in all that I do. I love today’s devotional. Thank you Pastor.
Something that I Love is serving THE LORD! Reminding myself everyday that everything I do is for The Lord! For that what we’ve been called for!
