Day 4 As I Humble Myself I Submit to God

Day 4

As I Humble Myself I Submit to God

6 “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…”

1 Peter 5:6

Versions Of The Bible:

1 Peter 5:6 (NIV) “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

1 Pedro 5:6 (NLT) “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.”

Thoughts of Devotion:

In these past days we have desired to understand in a deeper way th subject of pride in our lives. We’ve been able to understand a bit more of the danger of walking with pride and arrogance in our hearts. The reason why we want to know more about pride is with the purpose to allow God through his Holy Spirit to transform and change us. But the question that I have had to ask myself is the following, “What is the solution for this sin in the life of a believer”? I believe the answer can be summed up in one word, “Humility”. The solution to deal with arrogance in our lives is a humble heart before the presence of God.

In the scripture for today’s devotional the Apostle Peter directs himself to the church in general to express the importance of humbling ourselves before the mighty hand of God. It’s necessary this morning we understand this truth, that humility is developed and shown in our lives when we abide as well as submit ourselves under the mighty hand of God. Why the hand of God? The hand of God is used in scriptures to manifest His authority and dominion over us. Submission under His hand is with the purpose of bringing a greater humility and brokenness in our lives. Many times it seems that it brings us affliction, discipline, and brokenness, but the final result will be the exaltation and promotion of God.

Let us pray to God that humility may always be cultivated in us by living a life of lowliness and surrender under His mighty hand. May we treasure His authority and  His will to be the most valuable things in our lives. We need to make a decision today! A decision to cooperate with God and completely submit our plans, even our future under His complete direction.

I believe that when we come to the place of total submission unto the the Lord, it is there when we fully comprehend one of the greatest truths in life. This truth being that our promotion and exaltation will never be found in boasting or intending to do things our own way. Rather by leaving everything under the care of God and trusting that in His determined time promotion and exaltation will come into our lives.

Foundational Scriptures:

Isaiah 57:15 (NKJV) “For thus says the High and Lofty One, Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

James 1:9 (NKJV) “Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation…”

Psalms 75:6 (NKJV) “For exaltation comes neither from the east, Nor from the west nor from the south.”

Luke 1:52 (NKJV) “He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly.”
